Busy Bees

We've been BUSY around here! But not too busy for our trips to the park:

We've got some fun changes going on at the Starkey house. No we are not pregnant. Although Jack keeps asking for "another Finn" haha. Like out of the blue - "Mom, I want another Finn." And today at preschool, he asked the teachers if he could bring home a book. The book was titled "Meet The New Baby" - really Jack? bah ha ha.

Questions Galore

The question stage is in full bloom right now. Here are a few examples of the questions Jack asks:

  • Mommy, can we eat other people? - ummmm, this question was asked at lunch today. Where does he even think to ask this?
  • Who is Grandma Loney's mom? I respond, Great Grandma Harvatin. Then Jack asks, Who is her mom? And oddly enough my Grandma's maiden name is Finn. So telling Jack that her mom is Great Great Grandma Finn is just hysterical to him. ha ha.
  • Who is Grandpa Starkey's mom? I respond, Great Grandma Starkey. Then Jack asks, Who is her mom? I respond Great Great Grandma Kuehl. (Jack knows that she is in heaven) and proceeds to ask, is she dead? How old is she?
  • Am I dead? Am I going to be dead?
  • Am I going to grow as tall as daddy if I drink my milk?
  • When are the leaves going to fall? (what?!? How do you know that they are going to fall?)
  • Why is garbage day on Tuesday?
  • Can I ride the school bus to school tomorrow?
  • I wish I could go into the tv and play with the Backyardigans. Can I do that?
  • Why mom?
  • Why?
  • Mom, look at me. Are you looking? Mom?

It's hard to think of answers to the questions on the spot. And he remembers EVERYTHING. So it's not like you can just ignore the questions. And chances are - the questions and your answers will come up again somewhere. And probably in the most embarrassing scenario possible. ha.

Here are some pics of Lil Finners.

Having a snack after naps on this crisp fall afternoon. Doesn't he look so snuggly though?

Why hello Tom Jr.

First Day of Preschool!

Today was Jack's first day of preschool! He was SO excited.

Ugh, come on mom I just want to go to SCHOOL!

Finn was crying in the car after we dropped Jack off. He missed his brother. And when we got home, it was SO QUIET!!!! Finn and I went up to the Library until it was time to pick up Jack.

Tonight we start swimming lessons and then school again on Thursday. Finn's ECFE class starts on Thursday. Busy bees the Starkeys are, aren't we? Wouldn't have it any other way.

Old School Friday

I was going through some old videos I posted on YouTube. Check them out:

This is the longest - but I think it's my favorite!

I realized a few things watching these videos again. 1) My house was a disaster zone when Finn was a baby. And 2) - I think two years old is my favorite age.

Jack's New Obsession

Jack has recently become obsessed with The Wizard of Oz. This doesn't come as a huge shock to us since both Tom and I were huge fans of this movie as kids. Although, I was scared to death of the wicked witch, shocker - right? Anyway - we have this movie on VHS and Jack's favorite part of the whole movie is when Dorothy kills the wicked witch and she melts. Seriously, he rewinds it constantly and only cares about seeing her melt to death. When we start the movie from the beginning, he just wants to see the wicked witch. Ha.

Tomorrow Jack will get to see his preschool classroom for the first time. Finn and I will tag along and we won't actually be leaving Jack alone. That will happen next Tuesday. Can you believe that he is starting preschool? I can't.

I started reading The Happiness Project last night and so far I'm impressed. Maybe I'll start my own Happiness Project. ha, yeah right. But seriously - check out this quick video/slideshow click HERE

The Happiness Project

I've been searching for some more books to read, and one book in particular has caught my attention. It's called The Happiness Project. I've skimmed through a few reviews and read a few sample chapters and I think I'm going to read it. One of the main quotes that really stuck out to me was "The days are long, but the years are short." This is so true. Sometimes I find myself in such a rut being a stay at home mom (working from home on the side). I find myself wishing my kids would grow up, only to find out that they do and then I'm all sad about it. I like to read inspiring things telling me to slow down and soak it all up. I need that reminder every once in a while. So I think I'm going to jump on in and start reading The Happiness Project. I'll let you know my thoughts when I finish.

PS - The only major thing that has turned me off from wanting to read this book is that it is compared to the book Eat Pray Love. Which I thought was the worst book ever. And the worst movie ever. This book better not be like that. ha.

If anyone has read this and hated it - please stop me!
