Getting My Body Back

When you are about 7-8 months pregnant, you pretty much lose control of your body. It's not to say you can't control what you put into your body, but your skin stretches in ways you thought never possible. By both of the boys' due dates I had had enough! I'm not one of those people who LOVES being pregnant (not that there is anything wrong with THOSE people, I'm just not one of them :-)). I love being pregnant about 6 weeks out of the 40. That's about it. Then you have the baby and you are on such a high because it is OUT of your belly and you are not pregnant! But your stomach doesn't go back to the way it used to be. Sure you might think you are starting to look great. Then you will see a picture of yourself and gag. Ha ha. Ok maybe not to that extreme - but it's hard work getting your body back. It's even harder with the second kid. With Jack I got zero stretch marks. With Finn, I got a few around my belly button (for all of you girls who have belly rings and haven't gotten pregnant...BEWARE)! Anyway - sure, I could look a lot worse than I do. I'm wearing my pre pregnancy jeans and my weight is almost back down to what it was before - but it just isn't the same!  I even ran a half marathon when Finn was only 5 months old. However, while I was training for the half I never watched what I was eating by any means.

Well...about 8 months ago, Kelly joined Velocity Sports and raved about it. So I decided to check it out. There is one in Champlin, about 10 minutes from my house. They have a 10 week fitness challenge for adults. I JOINED! It starts in TWO weeks. Here's the deal. You sign up online for your classes - you pay a flat fee and you can go up to FOUR times a week! They are hour long sessions and there won't be more than 10 people in your class. It's basically circuit training and they work you hard! They have a variety of times to choose from. I love this because I am paying good money and I will feel guilty if I don't go. And there is no point not to go four times a week. I'm getting my body back people - watch out. Oh and this might have been brought on by our Mexico trip we are planning to take in January too :-)

Here is the other kicker....I'm going to try and eliminate processed foods from my diet five days a week. Two days a week, I can pig out on whatever I want, but the other five - no processed foods! This will be hard, but not ridiculous. I'm learning a lot about cooking and I like meals that use fresh ingredients the most anyway - so hopefully this will help enhance my menu items for the family as well. I've got two weeks before this all begins! Can't wait!

  2. good for you molly! I can understand that those last few pounds just don't work, and our bodies are never the same...(by the way you are beautiful and have always looked great! ) I was thinking the other day that Molly never looked pregnant in her face and I wish I was like that! It is so good to do it with other people to be held accountable...good luck with the food! If you need help...get a weight watchers cookbook, they are AWESOME! YEAH!

  3. I totally know what you mean about the belly button ring and stretch marks. I got ONE stretch mark with ryder and it was between my top hole and my bottom hole of where my belly button ring used to be back in the day. Sucky, but whatever. By the way Molly, I think you look fab...but good luck with your new work out plan!! See you thurs!

  6. Good Luck Molly...you'll do great! And you look amazing but I know what you mean. Since Greta started eating "adult" food (awhile ago) I have been cooking and using way less processed foods. In fact there aren't too many meals where we use process food. I shop at Trader Joes and I'm in LOVE with this store! They have the best things there and it's affordable. I just LOVE it!!! I pretty much get the majority of our groceries there. Love that place!

Again Molly you look GREAT already but best of luck!

  7. I love Trader Joe's too Mel! I never used processed foods for dinner - it's mainly lunch and snack time that I'm awful at!

Elissa - you should send me some of your favorite Weight Watcher meals from their cookbook! I need more good recipes!

  9. I would love to have some of those Weight Watchers meals too! :)

Molly-Don't you find it so hard because it seems like most of the easy/quick stuff for lunch and snack time are processed. Especially with snacks! Greta still eats some processed stuff of course but I try to give her as much non as I can. It's so hard when there's so much of that out there, not to mention it's good too ;). Who doesn't like a Oreo, right!?! I just try to find a happy medium because I know I can't and won't keep her from all of the processed stuff. I try to eat healthy the majority of the time but find it very difficult sometimes....I totally agree with giving yourself 2 days of eating whatever you want! I usually do that on the weekends and I'm sure more than 2 days a week some weeks, ha. I feel like if I kept myself from it I would go crazy and binge over a bunch of junk food..ha ha! You got to live a little too right! Anyway, let me know if you come across some good recipes.

Loved reading your post again Molly!
