Five
12/24/2012
Dear Jack,
How is it possible that five years have gone by? Five years ago you were in my belly. How can that be?
You are so much like me, it's scary. You always want to know what time it is. When we are scheduled to leave for an event. What the calendar looks like for the week. You love your schedules and routines.
You are so smart. You can read beginner books, and you even read my text messages if I'm not paying attention. Sometimes you'll text people back.
You love to wrestle. Mostly with daddy, but mommy will do. And you are always wrestling with Finn.
You whistle constantly. CONSTANTLY. Seriously, what five year old whistles?
You love music. Your favorite? Country Girl by Luke Bryan. Springsteen by Eric Church. Anything by Justin Bieber. Oh and must I mention Gangnam Style? grrr.
You ask to play hockey all day every day. But when it comes time to go to practice, sometimes you fight us on that one. Dad is not too pleased when that happens.
You are the best sleeper ever. You'd still nap every day if I pushed it. You'd sleep in much later if your brother didn't wake you up.
You are easy to bargain with. And you are an awesome eater.
Your favorite food is pasta. Your favorite drink is milk.
You love school. Your teachers love you. You have so many friends.
How is it possible that you are starting Kindergarten this year?
How is it possible that five years ago you made me a mother? You were the greatest gift, you still are.
You have a heart of gold, Jack. Your brothers are so lucky to have someone like you to look up to. I'm so proud that you are my son. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you.
I love you.
Mom
